Paper in PNAS – Structural Variation in Zebrafish Genome

I have had the opportunity to work on the evolutionary aspects of the extensive copy number variation observed among several zebrafish strains.  I am pleased to inform you that our study was accepted to be published in PNAS as the cover story.

In short, we have demonstrated an unexpected amount of structural variation in the zebrafish genome and explored the consequences of this variation on role of zebrafish as a biomedical model organism. We are also excited about the evolutionary path that led to such genomic variation and provided some initial thoughts on this subject in the manuscript. I am sure that follow-up studies and post-publication peer scrutinization of our findings would be very fruitful. LINK
